Help with drugs

Part of: Drugs, alcohol and gambling

The best way to avoid drug related risk is to not take illegal drugs or drugs that are not prescribed to you.

At the moment drugs being sold on the street or online are particularly risky as they are often mixed with other things you didn’t think you were buying. Some of these other substances are extremely dangerous.

So, if you or friends do use drugs there are some basic rules to reduce the risks of hurting yourself or overdosing:

  • Remember that any drug might not be what you think it is
  • Take steps to reduce your risk of overdosing, such as taking a test dose, or staggering doses so not all your friends take the substance at the same time
  • Make a recovery plan by making sure people know where you are and what you have taken

Clinical guidelines say that you shouldn’t tell people to stop taking drugs altogether if they are highly addicted. If you think you or a friend of family member are addicted you should get specialist advice from a drugs service.

Report drug crime

If you think someone or a business is selling drugs or is involved in crime or antisocial behaviour or is a victim, you can report this anonymously to safer.communities@trafford.gov.uk

If you or a loved one have a bad effect from medicines, vaccines, e-cigarettes, medical device incidents, defective or falsified (fake) products these can be reported online to the Yellow Card Scheme.
