New beta website

In the coming months we will be moving Trafford's website over to this new (beta) site. Your feedback is welcome, helping us to improve and adapt to your needs.

Use a library computer and internet

Part of: Other library services

You can log on to an available computer with your library card number and PIN.

You can also book a computer session in advance by phoning a library with computer facilities or speaking to staff at the library.

If you need to save your work, bring a USB memory stick with you as it will be lost once the session ends.

Computer facilities

  • Free high-speed internet access
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • Printing in black and white, and colour
  • Each library has one computer with disabled access, large keyboard and trackball, as well as software for those needing screen magnification
  • Scanners are available in most libraries

Cost of computer sessions

Computers are free to use for an hour a day. After this, there is a charge of 50p per half hour.

Extra time must be paid for at the time of booking, and no refunds can be given.

Users registered with Trafford Libraries as visually impaired, who need to use screen magnification software, are exempt from PC charges.

Library Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available in all our libraries. The network is called ‘Your Trafford Guest’ and you will need to register with your mobile phone number or email address.

Once you have completed registration, your device will be connected to the internet for four hours. If you need any longer, you can just register for another session. If you need help, ask a member of staff.

Getting help with the computers

You can get help with computer basics and the internet, as well as some more advanced topics, on BBC Webwise. It's free and you don't need to register or sign up.

You can also book a 1-2-1 appointment with our library staff who can assist you with various devices, including phones, computers, and laptops. To make an appointment, call 0161 912 3189 or speak to staff at your local library.
