Adults and children of all ages have been flocking to the libraries to take part in special summer events and borrow E books and traditional books.
The libraries enjoyed a record-breaking August in terms of the number of books borrowed:
The total number of items borrowed was 70,482
The total number of Junior fiction books borrowed was 26,809
Altrincham Library’s total number of books borrowed was 10,017
The number of E books borrowed total: 14,159
The number of traditional books borrowed was also up by 4% on the same period last year
Cllr Jane Baugh, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, said:
These figures are fantastic and prove that our libraries are more popular than ever. We have broken records across the board in terms of the numbers of books borrowed.
We are very proud of our libraries and the staff who work in them and we are delighted that our residents appear to feel the same way. There is no greater joy in life than reading a good book.”
