Stretford Cycleway Following consultations carried out during summer 2016 the Council will be implementing a highway improvement scheme that will provide high quality cycling facilities on Stretford Road and Talbot Road. The scheme plans show the following features: Provision of segregated cycle lanes in both directions Improved carriageway markings Carriageway and surfacing improvements Traffic signing upgrades and improvements Bus stop improvement works Improved pedestrian facilities The works are to take place on Streford Road from the junction of Erskine Street to its junction with Chester Road and on Talbot Road between its easterly junction with Chester Road to its westerly junction with Chester Road. They are programmed to take place over a 16-20 week period starting in early June 2018. Works have been planned to try to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and members of the travelling public. To enable us to safely carry out the works, temporary traffic signals may be in place for part of the works and some minor traffic delays may occur as a result. Temporary traffic signals are required to allow the works to be completed safely Weekend working may be planned where works cannot be completed during the week, but this will be kept to a minimum Local businesses will remain open as usual Access to properties will be maintained and coordinated by our team onsite. Emergency access will be maintained at all times. On site personnel will be on hand to provide help and advice to members of the public for the duration of the scheme and are the best way to find out more information about these works. In September 2017, Trafford Council published its intention to introduce a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) (reference Amendment No. 194) in relation to the above. Objections were received to this TRO, specifically, relating to the section of Stretford Road between Northumberland Road and East Union Street. These objections are currently being considered and administered in accordance with the Council’s statutory procedures. Objectors to the TRO have been directly engaged and will be kept informed how their objection is being dealt with. Subsequently, until these objections have been withdrawn or duly considered and decided on by the Executive Member for Economic Growth, Environment and Infrastructure no work is programmed to take place on this section of the route. If you require any further information please email firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a message on the traffic section’s voicemail on 0161 694 8970. An officer will get back to you as soon as possible, although please note this may not be the same day. When leaving a telephone message please mention that your call is about the Stretford Cycleway scheme.
