How and when to apply
If you are eligible your child’s school will send you an email two weeks before each school holiday begins. The email will include a link to an online form. Use this form to apply for the holiday free school meal award.
If your child’s school is outside Trafford, the local authority for that area will handle the award. Contact the school for more information.
The person registered for free school meals or receiving child benefit should apply.
Applications are open for two weeks before each school holiday. Late applications cannot be processed and awards cannot be backdated.
You must send us your application during the time periods listed below.

If you don’t receive the email, check your junk or spam folder. If it’s not there, contact your child's school.
What information you must provide
You must provide accurate information on the online form. Checks will be made to ensure no duplicate payments are made. Fraud will not be tolerated and payments made in error will be recovered.
You will need to provide us with the following when you apply:
- your bank account details or preference for a voucher
- information about your household, including children’s details
Your application must be accurate. Incorrect details may delay or stop payments.
