There are several ways to pay your Council Tax bill.
For all payment types you will need your Council Tax account number, which can be found on your bill. You will also need the full address of the property.
Pay by Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the simplest and most convenient way to pay your Council Tax bill. You can choose to pay on the 1st or 15th of each month. There are no additional costs.

Pay over 12 months
You can request to spread Council Tax payments over 12 months instead of the usual 10 months, up to and including March each year. This will reduce the amount you have to pay each month. Your total Council Tax bill for the year will be the same amount.

Pay by BACS transfer
You can pay your Council Tax bill by BACS transfer direct from your bank or building society account.

Pay with credit or debit card
Use the online form below to make payments for your Council Tax bill using a credit or debit card.
We accept payments by Maestro, Mastercard, Visa and Visa Electron. You may be asked by your card provider to verify your identity.
Pay by telephone banking
You can call us to make payments for your Council Tax bill over the phone. You will need a credit or debit card.

This is a 24 hour payment line. Calls to this number will cost you three pence per minute, plus your phone provider's access or call charges.
Pay by cash or card
You can pay your Council Tax bills at any Post Office using a personalised Post Office Payment Card.
To order a card, complete the online form on our Post Office Payment Card page.
You can also make cash or card payments at any PayPoint outlet. There is no charge to pay like this.
Visit the PayPoint website to search for your nearest PayPoint store.
Pay by standing order
You can pay your Council Tax by Standing Order. This will deduct the payment from your bank or building society account.
