Council Tax exemptions

Most exemptions only apply when no-one is living in a property, but sometimes properties which are lived in can be exempt.

On these pages you can find out if your property is exempt.

Keep paying the instalments on your Council Tax bill while we make a decision about your exemption. If we approve it, we’ll send you a new bill with the updated amount.

If you receive a Council Tax exemption and your circumstances change, you must inform us within 21 days or we may charge you a £70 penalty.
