Healthy children and young people

When families need information or support, there is lots available from a range of organisations. We are working together to try and make help easier to find when it is needed.

Trafford Family Hub Networks are places and organisations that are open to families for events and activities, meeting other parents and professionals, and attending appointments. The website includes What’s On guides, contacts and links to our app.

One of the ways we support families is through the Healthy Child Programme, offered to all families with under 5 years old and to schools. It is delivered by health visiting and school nursing teams in each neighbourhood of Trafford. The programme it aims to:

  • support parents
  • promote child development
  • reduce inequalities
  • improve child health outcomes and health and wellbeing
  • ensure that families at risk are identified at the earliest opportunity

Core elements include:

  • health and development reviews
  • screening
  • immunisations
  • promotion of social and emotional development
  • support for parenting
  • effective promotion of health and behaviour change
