Falls prevention
Moving more helps us to stay well at all ages, but as we get older, it can also help prevent falls, which are a leading cause of injury among older adults. Reducing falls is important to help maintain health, wellbeing and independence. The following will all help to reduce risk of falling:
- strength and balance exercise such as those provided by Age UK and Trafford Leisure
- make sure you don’t have trip hazards in the home such as electrical wires
- have regular eye tests and wear your glasses if required
Support for people who are worried about falling is available through the Age UK Strength and Balance Programme. For more information go to the Age UK Trafford website. There are lots of ways to move more, whatever your age. Have a look at our Moving More page for more information on a wide range of activities.
