New beta website

In the coming months we will be moving Trafford's website over to this new (beta) site. Your feedback is welcome, helping us to improve and adapt to your needs.

Traffic enforcement cameras vehicle

Part of: Traffic enforcement cameras

Contents

Vehicles stopping along the Red Route and connecting highways, footways and footpaths connecting to Old Trafford Stadium cause obstruction to pedestrians and cyclists and also cause congestion. We enforce these areas using a camera vehicle.

A Red Route is a ‘no stopping’ restriction which keeps traffic and public transport moving to prevent delays for everyone, including bus passengers, and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

There are some exceptions, such as buses, hackney carriages, private hire vehicles and vehicles displaying a blue badge, that are allowed to stop only to let passengers in and out. For further information visit our Red Routes and Red Route Clearways page.

Deployment

The enforcement camera vehicle will be deployed at the:

  • Red Route along the A56 corridor and associated side roads from Junction 7 of the M60 to the Manchester City Council boundary.
  • Red Route Clearway on the A5081 from Junction 9 of the M60 to the White City Circle.

The vehicle will be deployed for the ingress and egress of major events and on non-event days.

There is also an opportunity to deploy the vehicle at a school with enforceable Traffic Regulation Orders, subject to further investigation. It may also be used at parking hot spots across Trafford and act as a deterrent for anti-social parking.

Consequences

If you ignore the order, you may receive a fine also known as penalty charge notice (PCN).

A PCN charge is £70. However, if you pay within 21 days of the date of the notice, the charge will be reduced to £35. If you don't pay within 28 days, the charge will go up to £105.

If you feel the Penalty Charge Notice has been wrongly issued you can appeal. Find out about the process and how to appeal online
