What Council Tax pays for
Part of:
How much Council Tax you pay and how it is spent
Council Tax is an important part of how all local councils are funded.
Your Council Tax helps us to provide a range of services to people in the borough. These include:
- adult social services
- central costs including Housing Benefit
- children's and education services
- collecting and disposing of waste
- economic growth, planning and environment
- highways, roads and transport services
- recreation and tourism
- supporting existing council services
Council Tax is part of a larger revenue funding stream that includes Business Rates, Government grants and reserves. These are all pooled together to pay for our total net revenue budget of approximately £231.89 million.
