Single person discount for Council Tax

If only one adult (aged 18 or over) lives in a property as their main home, the Council Tax bill may be reduced by 25%. This is called a single person discount.

You are eligible for single person discount if:

• you have always lived alone
• all other adult members of your household have moved out or died

If you already receive single person discount, you must let us know if:

• another adult has moved in with you and is staying for more than six weeks
• a member of your household has turned 18 or will shortly turn 18
