Domestic abuse

Domestic abuse

If you are in immediate danger, call 999. If it's not safe to speak, stay silent, and you will be directed to an automated system. Press 55 to be transferred to the local police.

Anyone can suffer from domestic abuse, regardless of their age, gender, disability, sexuality, financial position, culture, or beliefs.

Domestic abuse can happen between:

  • Intimate partners (including LGBTQ+ relationships)
  • Ex-partners (including LGBTQ+ relationships)
  • Family members
  • Individuals who share parental responsibility for a child
  • Carers

Sometimes it can be hard to know if your experiences 'count’ as abuse. If you are unsure, but it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. You are not alone, and support is available.
